In the construction of a drop through longboard the trucks are screwed from above through the cutouts in the deck. Compared to the classic topmounted construction the deck is closer to the ground. This causes a lower centre and gives more stability while riding the board. The lower deck makes footbraking and pushing easier and the knees are less strained. Drop through longboards are very suitable especially for beginners and those who love to cover long distances.
